Privacy policy
This policy explains what data Amble Travel (“Amble”, “we”, “us”) collects through the ambletravel.app website and the Amble mobile app, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible and to be plain about it.
Information we collect
- Account details — when you create an account, your email address and an encrypted password. You can also use the app as a guest, with no account.
- Your trips & preferences — the onboarding answers that build your traveler persona, and the trips, itineraries and saved items you create in the app.
- Location — if you grant permission, your device location is used to power the on-the-ground features: the audio guide, arrival cues, and location-aware answers. Location is used to provide these features and is not sold.
- Voice input — when you use “Ask Amble”, your speech is converted to text on your device, and the resulting question is sent to our service to generate an answer.
- Basic technical data — limited diagnostic and usage information needed to run the service reliably.
How we use it
- To plan your trips and personalize recommendations to your travel persona.
- To provide maps, navigation, the audio guide and location-aware answers.
- To sync your data across your devices and restore it if you reinstall.
- To operate, secure and improve the service.
Service providers we share data with
We don’t sell your personal data. We share limited data with trusted providers only to run Amble:
- Supabase — our backend and database (accounts, trips and preferences), protected with per-user access controls.
- Anthropic — to generate trip plans and answers, the relevant prompt or question is processed by the Claude AI model. We don’t send your account password or precise identity for this.
- Map & places data — MapLibre/OpenFreeMap for maps, and Foursquare and OpenStreetMap for nearby places, to ground recommendations.
- Booking partners — when you tap a booking link (e.g. Booking.com, Agoda, GetYourGuide, Skyscanner, including via the Travelpayouts network), you leave Amble for the partner’s site, governed by their privacy policy. These partners may set a cookie or identifier to attribute a resulting booking to us. See our Affiliate disclosure Cookie policy.
How your data is protected
Data on your device is stored in an encrypted local database. Data synced to our backend is protected with per-user row-level security, and is transmitted over encrypted (TLS) connections.
Your choices & rights
- Delete your account & data — at any time, from the app (You → Delete account) or via our account deletion page. This removes your account and associated data from our systems.
- Location & microphone — these are opt-in, and you can revoke them anytime in your device settings; the related features simply won’t run without them.
- Access & corrections — contact us to request a copy or correction of your data. If you’re in the EEA/UK, you have rights under the GDPR; we honor them.
Children
Amble is not directed to children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Website cookies
Our website uses cookies for essential functionality and for affiliate tracking and optimization (via Travelpayouts Drive), and outbound booking links may set partner cookies. You can accept or decline non-essential cookies using the banner on the site — see our Cookie policy for the full detail and how to opt out.
